About HLNG Rehab
From faith-based ministry to licensed clinical facility -- 17 years of research-informed addiction treatment in Huntington Beach.
Our Story
HLNG Rehab began as a faith-based recovery ministry in a small Huntington Beach community center. Volunteers and pastors hosted weekly support groups for individuals struggling with alcohol and substance dependence, offering spiritual guidance and peer accountability when few other local resources existed.
As the program grew, its founders recognized that compassion alone could not address the neurobiological complexity of addiction. They partnered with licensed clinicians, addiction medicine physicians, and psychiatric professionals to transform the ministry into a state-licensed treatment center. Clinical outcome tracking replaced anecdotal success stories. Peer-reviewed treatment protocols -- CBT, DBT, medication-assisted treatment -- replaced informal counseling.
Over 17 years, HLNG Rehab has treated more than 12,200 patients across medical detox, residential, and outpatient levels of care. The faith-community spirit that started our work remains embedded in our culture: every patient is treated as a whole person, not a diagnostic code. But now that ethos is supported by rigorous clinical infrastructure, a 145-member professional staff, and a 72-bed facility designed for healing.
Our Mission
HLNG Rehab operates on a second-chance philosophy: addiction does not define a person's capacity for growth, contribution, or fulfillment. Our mission is to deliver clinically rigorous, individually tailored addiction treatment that restores each patient's ability to function, connect, and thrive.
We measure our success not by admissions volume but by sustained recovery outcomes. Every clinical decision -- from pharmacotherapy selection to discharge planning -- is evaluated against longitudinal data. We believe that second chances are most meaningful when they are built on a foundation of scientific evidence and authentic human respect.
Treatment Philosophy
Nutritional Psychiatry: Emerging research links gut-brain axis function, micronutrient status, and neurotransmitter synthesis to addiction vulnerability and recovery trajectories. HLNG Rehab integrates dietary assessment and targeted supplementation into every patient's treatment plan, working alongside our kitchen staff to deliver meals that support neurochemical restoration.
Mind-Body Connection: Somatic Experiencing and body-awareness practices help patients recognize physiological cues associated with cravings, trauma responses, and emotional dysregulation. By restoring the connection between physical sensation and cognitive processing, patients develop self-regulation skills that outlast formal treatment.
Motivational Enhancement: Rather than confrontational intervention models, our clinicians use motivational enhancement therapy (MET) to amplify each patient's intrinsic drive toward change. This approach reduces treatment dropout rates and strengthens long-term engagement with aftercare planning.

His work supports the facility's emphasis on multimodal neuroplasticity engagement.
Dr. Samantha Osei, PhD, RD
Nutritional Psychiatry Specialist
Dr. Osei directs the nutritional psychiatry component of HLNG Rehab's treatment model. Holding a PhD in nutritional neuroscience and registration as a clinical dietitian, she conducts micronutrient assessments at intake and designs individualized dietary plans that support neurotransmitter synthesis, gut-brain axis function, and metabolic recovery during and after detox.
What Our Alumni Say
"When I entered HLNG Rehab, I did not know I had bipolar II disorder. I just knew that every time I tried to quit drinking, the depression became unbearable and I relapsed. The clinical team ran comprehensive psychiatric evaluations during my first week and identified the co-occurring condition. Treating both simultaneously -- with mood stabilizers and DBT skills training -- was the breakthrough I had missed at two previous facilities. Eighteen months sober now."
-- Robert M., dual diagnosis patient
"Completing the residential program at HLNG Rehab gave me a structured foundation I did not have before. Now I return twice a month to lead alumni peer-support sessions. Watching new patients track their own clinical progress -- seeing the data confirm what they feel inside -- reinforces my own commitment. The staff welcome alumni as partners in the treatment community, not visitors."
-- Sarah L., alumni mentor
"I am a paramedic who spent five years using prescription opioids to manage chronic back pain and shift-work exhaustion. HLNG Rehab understood that healthcare workers face distinct stigma and professional consequences. Their confidential intake process, somatic experiencing therapy, and creative arts sessions helped me rebuild a professional identity that does not depend on substances. The clinical precision of their approach earned my trust from the first assessment."
